Uttaranchal, also known as Uttarakhand is popular among world-wide tourists for its hill stations, varied topography and climate. It is also referred to as Land of Gods being home to several temples. Rich with the Himalayan topography, Uttaranchal has a large forest cover that is beautiful to explore in the spring season.


In winters, Uttarakhand is very cold and sometimes extremely cold with the mercury dipping incredibly low, and many places receive regular snowfalls. The high altitude mountainous areas remain covered with snow for most parts of the year. The snowy peaks of the Himalayas act as a natural cooler not only to the immediate surrounding areas but also to the rest of India.


Summer Weather in Uttarakhand The summer season in Uttarakhand starts in April and lasts till June. During these months, the temperature in the state varies from 20° to 40°. Since some of the destinations of the state are located in the Terai (lowland) region, the temperature where for obvious reasons remains high.


From July to September the state of Uttarakhand experiences monsoon. This time of year is not considered as the idyllic season as compared to other two seasons. The reason for this is that the place witnesses heavy rainfall in these months. The temperature ranges from 15°C to 25°C.
